    Mid-Weight Digital Designer

    Mid-Weight Digital Designer

    John Brown Media South Africa is seeking to appoint a mid-weight Digital Designer to work on the PnP brand and all it’s extensions. The position is based in Cape Town and will report directly to the PnP Digital Art Director. The main focus of the position would be working on the PnP Fresh Living website, social media, and newsletters. You will also be required to work on other brands.

    He or she has a passion for all digital media, proactively driving conceptual designs, engaging interfaces as well as roll outs. If you understand that sweet spot where performance and engagement, beautiful design and brand objectives meet, we want to hear from you.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop designs for multi-platform digital projects under the direction of the Digital Art Director
    • Produce world class creative digital interfaces and design elements (websites, banners, email campaigns, social media, apps etc.)
    • Research and prepare material in support of new design concepts creating wireframes, storyboards, user/process flows, presentations and site maps
    • Understand usability and navigation issues and integrate these into complex design projects
    • Contribute to any existing design styles and ensure that any design works for new multi-platform projects supports OR evolves these where appropriate
    • Repurpose existing elements and templates as required by design changes
    • Ability to interpret brand guidelines & design principles for online media
    • Keep abreast of industry design developments and technology, and be able to interpret how these would impact services from a design perspective
    • To share information, ideas and best practice with team members
    • Do best-in-class work

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Tertiary-level education in digital design or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a digital creative agency
    • A strong portfolio that shows understanding of brand marketing principles balanced with creativity and innovation
    • An excellent understanding of systems, information architecture and user experience
    • Must feel comfortable working in a collaborative team environment

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro
    • Solid experience in UI and UX design best practices with a mobile-first approach.
    • Good understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and Responsive web design
    • Ability to justify and present your design solutions internally
    • Knowledge of different digital platforms – web, mobile and device screen sizes
    • A passion for digital design and strong attention to detail
    • Organized and able to prioritize work to meet deadlines
    • Good communication skills
    • Innovative and creative problem solver

    ADVANTAGEOUS:

    • Creating Multimedia animation and videos with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. 
    • Prototyping using Invision, Sketch, Figma or XD
    • Wordpress, Bootstrap and PHP
    • Jquery, Javascript and XML
    • Keynote and Powerpoint template design
    • An interest in food
