Ensure the health and safety by adhering to all legislative requirements, procedures, standards and guidelines
Lead, control and motivate the people to ensure that all Safety, Health, Environmental and Production targets are achieved
Communicate all legal and operational policies, procedures, standards and guidelines relevant to area of responsibility and ensure they are implemented and followed
Ensure effective cost control and that costs are allocated effectively and that the various sections stay within budget
Maintain section infrastructure to compliment the Operational value chain from coal face to plant
Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed
This role is in the Mining department at Band 6 and reports to the Section Manager.
Qualifications
Grade 12 essential
Opencast Blasting Certificate essential
Experience & Knowledge
10+ years’ experience on/in an Opencast Coal Mining Environment essential
In Possession of Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency (Advantageous)
Extensive knowledge of Drill & Blasting
Have extensive knowledge of safety systems, standards and high regard to safety regulations and standards
Solid knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act
Knowledge of mine planning principles and processes
Knowledge of Thermal Coal core value chain and Operational Codes of Practices and Procedures
Additional Information
Computer literacy in MS Office
Valid South African Driver’s license essential
Must be in possession of a Valid Certificate of Fitness of able to obtain one
Conflict management and problem-solving skills
Planning and decision-making skills
Aware of Best practices and new technologies relating to the mining industry
