Maintenance Manager (Mpumalanga) at Fraser Alexander (Pty) Ltd.

PURPOSE

• This position exists to lead a team responsible for the design, repair, maintenance and implementation of engineering systems, processes and equipment. The incumbent takes charge of operational excellence and ensures continuous improvement in Engineering processes, costs, quality and plant/equipment performance in line with the division's strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Management

• Maintain full standards of a MHSA legal requirements at operations.
• Maintain Fraser Alexander and Client safety policy and procedure requirements.
• Ensure safe maintenance practices.
• Do planned task observations and visible felt leaderships.
• Conduct strategic safety meetings to align engineering performance.
• Support SHEQ Strategy of the company with particular focus on Engineering aspects.
• Rolling out divisional Maintenance Strategy.
• Collaborate with Business Unit Managers in identifying improvement and growth opportunities.
• Strategic alignment of maintenance strategies, engineering standards and practices with industry norms, best practices and legislative framework.

Operational Performance

• Ensure that maintenance on equipment is carried out economically.
• Technical input to the maintenance budget for the division, including Capital items.
• Ensure continuous improvement of reliability and availability of process equipment.
• Provide engineering input into optimisation and/or expansion projects.
• Manage engineering operations and capital projects within applicable budgets and schedules.
• Provide input in the design and maintenance of safety procedures including risk assessment pertaining to maintenance of equipment.
• Enforce and ensure adherence to Fraser Alexander policies and procedures.

Innovation Management

• Develop and maintain systems to track innovations across the business and across the division.
• Maintain constant surveillance of trends in the industry, technological innovations, and changes in customer requirements which could impact on the company and its services then drive proactive responses to mitigate impact of changes.
• Contribute to the implementation of innovative strategies for the company so as to influence the overall growth, profitability and development of the business.

Maintenance Systems

• To share key insights, trends, best practices and benchmarking in Engineering with industry peers and in other parts of the business.
• Facilitate with GMs and Business Unit Manager to ensure that there is common alignment of the Engineering projects and standards.
• To continuously facilitate the processes between key enablers, e.g. SHEQ, Engineering, Operations,
• Human Resources and Finance, ensuring that they are aligned to the requirements of the Business in terms of Standard Operating Model, the Business Execution Plans and any other initiatives or improvements.
• Implement, ensure compliance, maintain & improve the company’s asset management system.

Administration

• Ensure maintenance of up-to-date KPI tracking dashboards for maintenance systems.
• Develop/ review/ maintain engineering performance tracking criteria.
• Assist GM and Business Unit Managers in honouring Service Level Agreements with the company’s clients.
• Report on Sites Time Usage statistics and initiate improvement plans.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• B-Tech or BSc in Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification in Business studies will be an added advantage.
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC), Mines.

EXPERIENCE

• 5 years in Maintenance/ Engineering Management in Mineral Processing.
• Experience in developing and implementing integrated operational planning.
• Developing Training Material for reports, graduates and apprentices.
• Knowledge or experience of Engineering Maintenance Management System.
• Proven track record of implementing business improvement initiatives Experience in managing of costs and cost reduction projects.
