MR Specialist Survey (North West) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To supervise the safe and cost-effective execution of all surveying work and conduct underground surveys.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, QUALITY:

•  Ensure SHEQ compliance within the team through effective use of the SHEQ Toolbox
•  Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
•  Compliance to all regulatory requirements.

CUSTOMERS:

•  Ensure Customer Satisfaction
•  Key Customers: Mining and Processing. 

PEOPLE:

•  Ensure an enabling climate and culture
•  Maintain labour stability by minimizing labour turnover
•  Labour compliment in line with budget and EE targets
•  Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
•  Coach and counsel employees to ensure improved performance levels. 

BUSINESS PROCESSES:
Opencast Survey

•    Calculate actual volume of ore and waste mined from the mine/opencast mine and plant stocks
•  Determine annual growth variance of slime dams and waste dumps
•  Large excavations calculations
•  Calculation of rehabilitation impact
•  Reporting of production results within set deadlines
•  Usage of GPS equipment.

Underground Surveying:

•  Ensure that mining sections are surveyed up to date
•  Ensure that layouts are done and updated
•  Capital development
•  Establish side grade pegs in flat and inclined development ends
•  Surveying of primary and capital development.

Reports:
 Compile Surveying reports:

•  Stoping and development, 
•  Individual Contractor, 
•  Mine / Opencast Mine
•  Stock Reconciliation Reports
•  Basic Mine Equation reports.

SHAREHOLDER VALUE:

•  Engagement with internal and external stakeholders (Mining teams, SHEQ, DMRE, etc.)

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

•  Degree or Diploma: Mine Surveying
•  4 years’ relevant C-Upper experience.

Additional Qualifications:

•  COM Advanced Certificate Survey & Valuation
•  Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competence (Advantageous).

Knowledge and Experience:

•  Underground, opencast & surface survey 
•  Compilation and checking of reconciliation reports
•  Requirements of Chapter 17 Mine Health and Safety Act.
