CORE DUTIES

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive multimedia strategy that helps drive Netwerk24's goal of quality journalism in Afrikaans and attract and retain subscribers.
• Establish clear guidelines and standards for all video and audio content.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and platforms.

Team Management:

• Leads and manages the team of multimedia specialists.
• Provides mentorship and professional development to team members.
• Coordinates workflow and ensures timely delivery of multimedia content.
• Conducts performance evaluations and develops development plans.

Integration with the newsroom:

• Work closely with the news heads and the rest of the team to integrate multimedia elements into stories.
• Coordinate with the homepage team to optimize content for maximum impact.
• Help facilitate projects and campaigns involving multiple departments.
• Help ensure effective communication between different departments.

ADDITIONAL STRATEGIC DUTIES

Performance Optimization:

• Use data metrics to monitor and analyze how multimedia content is performing.
• Implement data-driven decision-making for content strategy.
• Identify trends and opportunities for audience growth.
• Regularly report on key metrics to the editor-in-chief and other role players.

Innovation and development:

• Research emerging multimedia trends and technologies
• Develop new and engaging content formats and storytelling techniques
• Create templates and workflows for increased efficiency.

Quality Control:

• Establish and maintain editorial standards for multimedia content.
• Develop quality control processes and protocols.
• Ensure brand cohesion across all platforms.
• Manage the approval process for multimedia content.

Resource Management:

• Manage the multimedia budget and resources effectively.
• Build relationships with suppliers and partners.
• Negotiate contracts for equipment and services.
• Optimize production costs without compromising quality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, media studies, film/video or related field
• A minimum of five years of experience in multimedia production and management
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong portfolio of multimedia projects
• Experience in a newsroom will count in your favor.
