    NETWORK AND SECURITY TEAM LEAD

    Role Description

    The core purpose of the Team Lead position is to provide guidance and leadership to a team of ICT professionals (internal, external and vendors) that support, enhance and develop IT network and security. This will include upskilling and training team members to ensure the IP is shared amongst the team. A key part of this role will be to provide recommendations to the leadership team, to establish and manage ICT and business priorities as well as being a subject matter expert across a group of systems. The Network and Security team operates as a centre of excellence to ICT functional areas and the wider business units and must be able to balance the demands of day to day support activities with new capability and enhancement requests.

    Responsibilities

    Infrastructure management

    • Ensure implementation and continuous improvements of the ICT processes following best practice standards
    • Contribute to the development of ICT systems to improve the ICT security within the organisation
    • Plan, implement and maintain the security measures to protect the organisations classified and unclassified systems, networks and data
    • Provide proper configuration and management of security equipment (firewalls, VPN, encryption, tokens, certificates etc.) including event logging and log analysis
    • Provide protection of ICT Systems from external threats 
    • Contribute to the development of the Disaster Recovery Plan and provide its testing and maintenance
    • Keep up with the latest ICT security technologies, in order to anticipate security breaches
    • Ensure prevention of data loss and service interruptions by researching new technologies that will effectively protect the ICT systems
    • Manage the IT network and security through its complete life cycle, including implementations, preventative maintenance, capacity planning and interconnectivity
    • Procurement of IT network & security components
    • Provide expert systems and data advice to advance the ICT Cloud Strategy
    • Software and hardware licence management and forecasting to ensure compliance and certification to meet requirements
    • Identify the needs for network and security associated policies, standards and strategies and contribute to the development and maintenance of them
    • Coordinate IT network and security related technical evaluations, reports and systems analysis with recommendations
    • Quality assurance of IT network and security, overall systems security standards (both internal and external) and network and security procedures
    • Be the Technical Owner on assigned projects and developments
    • Manage vendor and contractor relationships on projects and act as key supplier liaison regarding network and security
    • Participate or lead special project work as appropriate and as required

    Team management

    • Manage direct and indirect reports (i.e. seconded team members)
    • Ensure that the team is aligned with the company’s strategy and working towards achieving the strategy
    • Ensure the team is appropriately resourced and members are equipped with the requisite skill required for both current and future projects
    • Develop a training and career development plan for each team member
    • Collaboratively work with team members to set performance goals and measures
    • Conduct regular performance discussions with the team members to facilitate a culture of growth
    • Facilitate mentoring and coaching as required
    • Be actively involved in the recruitment of new team members when necessary
    • Oversee all aspects of the team by facilitating and resolving issues through effective problem solving and communication skills
    • Maintain a current and future skill matrix for your team
    • Create a culture for teams that are aligned to the company’s platforms and values

    Requirements

    • 5+ years’ IT security work experience or in a similar role
    • Proven experience in IT Networking and Security – Advanced Levels
    • Strong working knowledge of networking technologies
    • Strong working knowledge of Virtual Architecture (VMWare, HyperV, VDI,)
    • Strong working knowledge of SAN Environments and Design
    • Experience working with administration and support
    • Proven experience in managing and facilitating the mix of internal teams and external vendors as a part of product buildout
