Networking and Software Consultant at Vertiv

The Networking and Software Consultant will offer field technical support to technical support engineers, service engineers, distributors, ASPs, and major clients in Africa, proactively resolving technical issues, conducting service trainings for service providers, customers, and direct field engineers, selling resource time to distributor/ASPs and clients outside warranty/product support, and contributing to a master plan to enhance and restructure service business in the Africa region.

What responsibilities will you have?

• Provide field technical intervention on site to support service engineers on site and remotely and drive towards quick resolutions of customer complaints and queries.
• Take ownership of support requests in Africa for sales team, distribution channels and end customers.
• Liaise with Centre of Expertise (COE) regarding technical, warranty and quality issues.
• Perform site audits.
• Collect and analyze customer requirements for products and complete IT solutions.
• Prepare technical content, solution descriptions, statement of compliance and drawings for commercial offers/bids/quotes based on customer requirements.
• Prepare concept proposals for complete solutions according to customer specifications.
• Provide technical assistance to service managers in direct contact with customers, when applicable.
• Prepare, write and collect technical specifications and other relevant documents for offered products, check solution-compatibility with relevant product-related standards.
• Remain up to date with competitor products.
• The post holder should become Certified Trainer and Certified Train the Trainer (TTT) and remain up to date in related technologies and products.
• Manage training needs of Technical Support Engineers, customers, ASPs, and internal field service engineers across the African region and organize courses accordingly.
• Elevate the level of technical capabilities and competence of our distribution network across Africa.
• Participate in consultant meetings / workshops and other marketing activities.
• Participate in new product launches and marketing events.
• Support internal Service Sales and Product sales associates for complex services quotes.

What are the keys to your success?

• University degree in Electrotechnics / Electrical Electronics with additional experience in IT / Network Programs.
• Good understanding of Network Servers, related principles and relevant standards.
• Knowledge and previous IT experience (at least 3 years) with Network systems and ability to read and interpret electrical & mechanical schematics and one-line diagrams.
• Good experience in Data Cabling.
• English language - good verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience with work in a global company.
• Good PC skills with working knowledge of Auto Cad and/or Visio - desirable.
• Leadership in managing difficult situations and work under pressure.
• Ability to marshal resources to achieve desired results. 
• Understandings of Data Center infrastructure environments - desirable.
• Knowledge of relevant standards related to Data Centers - desirable.
• Work experience with global companies - desirable.
• English language - excellent verbal and written communications skills
• French language will be a plus but not mandatory.
• Arabic language will be a plus but not mandatory.
• Availability to travel within Sub Sahara Africa (Roughly 30%).
