To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them. To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide First Aid to staff and learners.
Dispense medication to children as requested by parents.
Monitor immunization records of learners.
Implementation of health and safety protocols.
Transporting and accompanying sick /injured children to medical facilities.
Record keeping
Submission of medical insurance claims and organizing payments to doctors and hospitals.
Drug testing, if required.
Provide counselling to learners and staff regarding medical issues.
Management and ordering of stock including invoicing.
Work hand in hand with Boarding Team.
Required to reside on campus in designated accommodation provided.
Be responsible for night –shift and on call during weekends when pupils are on campus. The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Excellent communication skills
Strong administration skills
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Dispensing skills
Data reporting and computer literate
Be organised, have attention to detail, hard-working, flexible.
SANC registered nurse.
Previous experience as a school nurse would be advantageous.
Valid Basic Life Support and First Aid Level 3.
Knowledge of medical accounting and administration.
Driver’s license and own vehicle.
Must be in possession of dispensing license or be in the process of getting one.
Availability to work on weekends and be on call when required.
A demonstrable passion for the profession.
Excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude to change.
