    Oil Analyst

    Job Description:
    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Approve, interpret and report sample analysis data of all oils and fuels
    • Register samples on LIMS program
    • Perform daily checks on equipment and instruments
    • Control Chemicals and Chemical storage
    • Conduct series of analytical tests on all oil and fuels (both new and used) from the operation using different analytical instruments and equipment to ensure the quality and cleanliness levels
    • Determine optimal oil sampling intervals.
    • Maintain contamination control and target cleanliness levels within set targets
    • Supervise and coach laboratory assistants
    • Draw up new procedures
    • Interpret data for the instruments

    This role is in the Asset Management and Reliability department at a D1 level reporting to the Tribology & Oil Technologist.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering - advantageous
    • N3 Artisan Qualification (Fitter or Diesel Mechanic trades only)
    • Basic Lubrication and Contamination Control Certificate
    • Certified Machine Lubrication Analysist level 1. (ICML)International Council of Machinery Lubrication
    • Certified Machine Lubrication Analysist level 2. (ICML)International Council of Machinery Lubrication
    • Failure Analysis Course - advantageous
    • Filtration course - advantageous
    • Condition Monitoring Training – advantageous
    • Please attach all qualifications and certificates.

    Experience: 

    • 5 Years’ experience as a qualified artisan
    • Failure analysis and condition monitoring training and experience
    • 2 years’ Experience in Tribology field or Condition monitoring
    • Experience in use oil Analytical instruments. (Spectrometer, Viscometers, FTIR, FQ/PQ and Flashpoint tester)

    Additional Requirements:

    • Computer literate – MS Office
    • Advanced: analytical skills
    • Certificate of Fitness
    • No chemical sensitivity that may affect carrying out of duties at a specific laboratory.
    • Code 8 drivers’ license
