Operating Department Assistant at Life Healthcare

• A vacancy exists for an Operation Department Assistant (Theatre), based at Life Kingsbury Hospital, Cape Town reporting to Theatre Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the surgical team to perform surgical procedures on patients successfully and to ensure that the patient receives optimal care in accordance with company and hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

• Perform scrub duties in theatres where complex and demanding surgical procedures are performed
• Maintain a level of clinical competence
• Maintaining quality patient and customer care in accordance with Life Healthcare standards.
• Understands cost effective delivery of nursing care
• Maintaining sound relationships and communication with patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team.
• Building professional relationships with doctors and therapists to promote patient-doctor interaction.
• Maintaining all Health, Safety and Infection Control Standards
• Contributing to an environment that is conducive to learning and provides job satisfaction for all staff

Requirements

• Grade 12
• Diploma in Operating Department Practice
• 2-5 years relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs is essential
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
• Computer proficiency would be an advantage
