    Operational Excellence Specialist

    Description

    General Duties:

    • Plan, execute and document the strategy of all process improvement & lean initiatives through the organization
    • Promote cultural change, challenging current business processes
    • Sponsor and coach continuous improvement methodologies to site personnel as required
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining communication and engagement around OPEX across all levels, all functions and processes within the site
    • Initiate, lead, participate and deliver OPEX projects, supporting our objectives in terms of improving quality, efficiency, capability, and cost
    • Leads and directs project teams to deliver plant EBIT targets utilizing appropriate methodologies
    • Coach and mentor staff throughout the site to develop their continuous improvement skills and support them in the delivery of appropriate improvement projects
    • Develop and coach key resources to green belts or similar level
    • Provide technical and analytical support as required on a plant-wide basis for project analysis in terms of operational efficiency
    • Develop and deliver training material to educate staff in the application of process management and continuous improvement, including sharing best practices within the regional OpEx community
    • Promote and utilize tools and techniques to achieve a sustainable continuous improvement and value creation
    • Define and implement financial tracking of OpEx results within the site
    • Promote cultural change by sharing best practices, tools and techniques for process management and process improvement
    • Promote a data driven culture to understand root cause of problems and avoid recurrence
    • To focus on the value streams within the organisation, supporting the achievement of quality key measures of success, cGMP standards and customer requirements
    • Reducing the cost of non-quality and waste
    • Ensure timeous batch release in line with department targets  timeous addressing of queries / returns from Release Pharmacists
    • Strive for continuous improvement of shopfloor communication through regular shopfloor meetings

    Budget & Cost Control

    • Support the development and control the financial budget for the departments
    • Support the control and optimization of costs within the departments
    • Support the setting of quality and performance KPI’s for the departments and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency
    • Continuously improve processes to introduce World Class practices within the business
    • Identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements
    • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for the department to meet market and business requirements for the present and the future

    Requirements

    • Tertiary Qualification (B.Eng. / B.Tech.) in Engineering – preferably Industrial Engineering
    • Additional Business management related qualifications would be an added advantage
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience required
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Lean/OPEX related positions in a production environment
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong manufacturing process and supply chain understanding
    • Basic business financial understanding
    • Pharmaceutical Industry preferable
