Operational Manager General Grade 1 (Medical Ward)
Senior certificate/ Grade 12.A basic R425 (i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional nurse.
A minimum experience of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional nurse with SANC in general nursing. Skills: Knowledge of nursing care, process and procedures. Basic knowledge of public service regulations. Disciplinary code, human resource policies.
Ward management, planning and good communication, problem solving, conflict management, report writing skills. Effective management of resources. A qualification in Health Service Management and basic computer skills will be added advantage.Other Skills: Knowledge of relevant acts, prescripts, policies and procedures governing health care service delivery.
Duties :
Demonstrate understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practises. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Ensure clinical nursing practise by the nursing team as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by nursing prescripts. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians, including report writing when required.
Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Work effectively, co-operatively and amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial, or religious differences. Able to plan and organise own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirements and expectations (Batho-Pele).
