Operational Manager General Grade 1 (Outpatients Department)
Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) that allows registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. Up to date registered annually with SANC.
A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in general nursing and midwifery. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration / Health Service Management. Primary Health Care will be added as an advantage
Duties :
Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery. Ensure quality clinical nursing practice by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice, Ideal Hospital Framework and nursing standards. Promote professional and ethical behavior of staff in the unit. Demonstrate basic understanding of HR, procurement, Financial and Labour Relations policies and practices. Demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other health professionals. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Display a concern for patients, willingness to take part in supervisory duties, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and promote patient safety. Ensure that unit adheres to Bath Pele Principles and Ideal Hospital Framework realization.
Manage and redress complaint received effectively. Manage own work, time and that of colleagues to ensure proper nursing service in the unit. Display good supervisory and leadership skills. Demonstrate willingness to work shifts when there is a need. Contributes to management of complaints and Patients Safety Incident.
