Operational Manager Nursing: Obstetrics and Gynaecology
ERRATUM (Diploma/Degree in Nursing Management added). Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma /degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
A minimum of nine (9) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
At least five (5) years of this period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the one (1) year post basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Management registered with South African Nursing Council.
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council. Competencies: leadership, ward management/ward administration, planning, organizing, coordination and communication skills.
Ability to take charge and make appropriate independent decisions. Display empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitating proper treatment and nursing care. Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines.
Duties :
Supervise and ensure the provision of an effective and efficient patient care. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of nursing care plans and evaluation thereof. Implementation of nursing guidelines, standard operating procedures and nursing protocols. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other key stakeholders.
Manage and monitor proper utilization of all resources. Demonstrate in depth understanding of nursing legislations and related ethical nursing practices. Submit reports and statistics timeously.
Work as part of multidisciplinary team at supervisory level. Implement and promote National Core Standards. Supervise and ensure that absenteeism and abscondment of staff is effectively controlled. Management of personnel performance and review thereof. (Contracting, quarterly review and final assessment).
The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with management calls.
