Senior Certificate, R425 (Diploma/Degree in Nursing)or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Proof of registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate /recognisable experience after obtaining 1 year post- basic qualification in Advanced Child and Adult Psychiatry) accredited with SANC.
Duties:
To ensure that a comprehensive nursing treatment and care service is delivered to patients in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner by the specialty unit. Ensure compliance to professional and ethical practice.
Coordinate of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care provided within set standard and a professional / legal framework. Manage effectively the utilisation and supervision of resources. Coordination of the provision of effective training and research.
Provision of effective support to Nursing Service. Maintain professional growth / ethical standards and self-development. Supervision over day-to-day operations of the unit. Manage effective utilisation and supervision of human, financial and material resources. Promote nursing ethos and professionalism.
Involvement in the Hospital Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement programs. Coordinate unit meetings and liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team. Maintain a positive practice environment and participate in education and training of student nurses.
