    Operational Manager - Specialty (Advanced Midwifery)

    Requirements :

    • Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Basic Diploma/Degree that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
    • One (01) year Post basic diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science that is registered with SANC. Diploma in Health Service Management/ Nursing Administration/ Management.
    • Nine or more years’ appropriate experience as a nurse after registration with SANC. Five years of the period referred above must be appropriate / recognizable experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department after obtaining one-year Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science qualification. Demonstrate computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to compile presentations and draft professional reports.

    Duties :

    • Supervise and evaluate quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and set nursing standards. Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
    • Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Improve perinatal mortality and morbidity through implementation of Obstetric priority programs, EMTCT, MBFI, RHS, ESMOE. Able to manage own work, time and that of subordinate to ensure proper nursing service in the units. Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices.
    • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care by the nursing team. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisor, other health professionals and junior colleagues including more complex report written when required. Manage resources effectively and efficiently in the unit. Work effectively and amicably, at a supervisory level, with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences. Participate in training, research and self-development. Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho-Pele.
    • Promote achievement of Ideal Hospital Realization Framework and OHSC. Effective data management that aligns Operational Plan with GDOH and District Annual Performance Plan. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required by operational needs. Knowledge of PFMA and Supply Chain Management Regulations and other regulatory framework
