    Operations Manager - Johannesburg

    Role summary

    This position is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of Betting division, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. The Operations Manager will work closely with Area Managers and other departments to optimize processes, manage resources, and drive performance to achieve 4Racing’s goals. The role  also involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of 4Racing to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • 10-15 years’ experience in Operations management, 
    • Experience in process improvement methodologies
    • Experience in a retail environment (Branch environment with sales targets) 
    • Solid understanding of operational processes, supply chain management, and quality management principles.
    • Budget Management Experience 
    • Excellent telephone etiquette
    • Strong Customer focus 
    • Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency.
    • Ability to handle disappointments/failure or stress whilst retaining the motivation to succeed
    • Offsite visits 
    • Business consulting 

    Preferred certification:

    • Certified Operations Manager (COM)
    • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)

    Daily Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning

    • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, including 5 Area Manager activities and ensuring that all branches are run efficiently to achieve operational goals, and customer service.
    • Manage and optimize resources, including personnel, equipment, and inventory, to meet operational goals within budget constraints.
    • Lead, motivate, and mentor teams to achieve performance targets and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for optimization.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant gambling boards, regulators, standards, and policies in all operational activities.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, resolve operational challenges, and drive innovation.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other external partners to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Implement measures to mitigate operational risks and ensure business continuity.
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations on operational performance, KPIs, and initiatives for management review.

    Risk Management

    • Identifying potential risks to operations and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.

    Risk Identification

    • Identifying potential risks that could affect the Gambling and Betting division, its projects, or its operations. Risks may arise from various sources, including internal factors such as organizational structure, processes, and culture, as well as external factors such as market conditions, regulatory changes, and natural disasters.

    Risk Assessment

    • Assess risk in terms likelihood of occurrence and potential impact on the organization in order to assess and prioritize risks based on severity and in order to focus resources on addressing the most significant risks first.

    Risk Mitigation

    •  Develop and implement strategies to mitigate or reduce their likelihood and impact. This may involve implementing controls, developing contingency plans, transferring risk through insurance or contracts, or avoiding certain activities altogether.

    Monitoring and Control

    •  Risk management is an ongoing process that requires continuous monitoring and evaluation of risks and risk mitigation strategies. Organizations establish monitoring mechanisms to track changes in risk factors, assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures, and make adjustments as needed.

    Budgeting and Cost Control

    • Develop and manage operational budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures to optimize resource utilization and maximize profitability.

    Performance Monitoring

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive results.
