    Operations Manager Mokopane, Mogalakwena

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    Safety and Compliance:

    • Drive a culture of safety across all MARC site activities, ensuring compliance with mine safety standards and legal requirements.
    • Implement and monitor safety initiatives to continuously improve safety performance and reduce risk.

    Operational Management:

    • Oversee maintenance and repair operations for the fleet of mining equipment, ensuring adherence to planned maintenance schedules and achieving equipment availability targets.
    • Coordinate with the planning team to ensure seamless execution of maintenance plans and rapid resolution of equipment breakdowns.
    • Manage and optimize resource allocation, including manpower, tools, and equipment, to meet 24/7 operational demands.

    Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the customer and other stakeholders on-site.
    • Act as the point of contact for the client, addressing concerns and ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
    • Partner with the client to identify and deliver value-added services that enhance operational performance and profitability.

    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
    • Drive leadership accountability, foster teamwork, and maintain high levels of employee engagement.
    • Identify and implement skill development programs to address capability gaps and support career progression.

    Standardization and Process Improvement:

    • Standardize processes across workshops and inventory management systems to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maintain a competitive edge and improve service delivery.

    Reporting and Analysis:

    • Provide regular reports on site performance, including safety metrics, equipment availability, and operational challenges.
    • Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks.

    Key Deliverables:

    • Achieve and maintain contractual KPIs, including safety, equipment availability, and cost control.
    • Drive customer satisfaction and strengthen client relationships.
    • Develop a high-performing and engaged workforce.
    • Implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
    • This position provides an excellent opportunity to lead a critical operation at a MARC site, ensuring safety, efficiency, and strong client partnerships for long-term success.

    Skills Competences, Skills & Experience:

    Experience:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a management role (compulsory).
    • Proven experience managing MARC site operations or large-scale maintenance projects.
    • Strong technical background in maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
    • Demonstrated experience with managing open cast operations and operational systems.

    Technical Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of Epiroc mining equipment and aftermarket services.
    • Expertise in maintenance management systems and inventory control.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Qualified Artisan (compulsory).
    • National Diploma in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or Engineering (desirable).

    • Commitment to fostering a positive safety culture on-site.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build strong client relationships.

    Travel and Work Environment

    • Based on-site at a mining operation with a requirement to spend the majority of time on-site.
    • Travel to other sites or regional offices as required.
