Operations Manager - Sugar and Packing Designate (Pongola) at RCL Foods

Minimum Requirements    

• BTech/B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering/Sugar Technology qualifications.
• Candidate must have completed the Ten-week SMRI training course.
• At least 5 years’ experience in the Sugar Manufacturing environment, as an Assistant Production Manager or Process Engineer responsible for Raw-house and/or Refinery.
• Understanding and advanced knowledge of the Sugar manufacturing process (Rawhouse) and operations parameters.
• Understanding of packing station operations is important.
• Candidates must have intermediate MS Office skills.
• Self-starting, action-orientated individuals with well-developed communication skills should apply.
• Candidate is expected to have high levels of drive and potential for advancement.
• Working knowledge of SAP system will be an added advantage.
• The ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy is critical to this position.
• To be considered for appointment, candidate must be a South African citizen.

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Formulate and implement production strategies, policies, plans, budgets, quality standards, and programmes to maintain and improve the competitive position of the mill for process and packing.
• Ensure that appropriate sugar production and packing processes are applied to achieve sugar production and packing goals and targets within budget, safety, and quality parameters.
• Optimize factory throughput and recoveries to achieve production targets.
• Manage and control the quality of sugar produced and packed to meet the required specifications.
• Manage Process LTA and UDL to minimum and maximize Overall Time Efficiency (OTE).
• Give guidance in terms of sugar rework, packing materials, materials wastage, and efficiencies.
• Provide technical support to the process and packing teams.
• Compile and control the process operational and maintenance budgets.
• Play a role in planning of Process Off Crop, short & long stops work and implementation.
• Management of team (performance management, discipline, recruitment, training & development, leave, etc).
