    Ops Chargehand

    To provide supports the mining services team objectives and business imperatives by providing efficient coaching and advice to the customers on the application of ENAEX explosives products while enhancing the customer/supplier relationship. Duties include; but are not limited to:

    • Assist mine personnel on-the-job training i.e. Demonstrate the charging up and connecting of all Enaex explosives products.
    • Provide information regarding safe usage of Enaex equipment and products to mine personnel.
    • Assist Service Technician in maintaining DDS™ equipment underground.
    • Conduct density checks and records.
    • Daily inspections and minor (24V) repairs on DDS™ equipment.
    • First responder to breakdowns (All minor issues).
    • Reporting on levels of DDS™ emulsions underground.
    • Reporting on spares used and stock level to Site Supervisor and Service Technician.
    • Report of spillages to mine personnel and site supervisor to arrange for clean-up.
    • Report status of good housekeeping around emulsion transfer stations to mine and Site Supervisor.
    • Daily reporting of findings from underground workings to Site Supervisor/Section Mine Overseer/Shift boss / Miner with regards to   - charging-up and drilling on the working areas S/he visited.
    • Communication with Service Technician and Site Supervisor on status of DDS™ equipment.
    • Breakdown reports and feedback to Site Supervisor, M/O, Service Technician
    • Follow up on recommendations and implementation of proposals from Site Supervisor and Technician.
    • Assess the product application practices - conduct blast surveys according to the designed criteria.
    • Apply the use of the product as per the product application training.
    • Apply the safe handling, storage, and transport of explosives.
    • Ensure correct PPE is used, as well as that PPE is in good condition and correctly worn/used.
    • Identify workplace hazards and associated risks and deal with it appropriately i.e. Pre-task risk assessments.
    • Knowledge of relevant hand tools.
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures.
    • Comply with the Mine’s safety and health procedures.
    • Attend the mine’s induction training.
    • Maintain basic safety, health, and environmental issues.
    • Identify incorrect product application practices, document, coach, and report to Site Supervisor.
    • Adhere to mine Health & Safety requirements

     Minimum Requirements and Experience:      

    •          Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (Must)
    •         Competent A or B (Advantage)
    •         Blaster Assistant Skills Programme (advantage)
    •         Minimum 2 years underground mining experience will be an advantage
    •         First Aid Certificate will be an advantage
    •         Medical Certificate of Fitness, a must
