Minimum 4 years degree in Optometry that allow registration with HPCSA as an independent Optometrist with ocular diagnostic privileges. Proof of Current registration with HPCSA. Sound knowledge of clinical theory, practice and knowledge relating the practice of Optometry within the health sector setting. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Quality assessment procedures, Computer skills, leadership skills, written and verbal communication skills and report writing. Good interpersonal skills and teamwork is necessary.
Knowledge of Public service legislation, Policies and procedures. Knowledge of current DoH guidelines and policies governing the health sector and Optometry profession. Knowledge of Optometry procedures, quality control and record keeping processes is essential.
Duties :
Provide high quality Eyecare Services in a community setting in adherence to the scope of practice of optometry and health protocols. Utilize and maintain equipment to ensure patients safety while adhering to professional transcripts. Knowledge of Performance Management system (PMDS). Perform record keeping, data collection, assist with budget control and asset management.
Knowledge and promotion of Batho Pele Principles in execution of all duties and effective service delivery. Ensure that all health safety rules and regulations are adhered to. Collaborate with stakeholders in the Eye care service delivery system. Participate in student training and supervision. Communicate effectively within the team. Perform any other work-related duties as delegated by the supervisor
