OT Network Specialist - Engineering (Surface & UG) & Quality Assurance -Instrumentation & Electrical at Palabora Mining Company (PMC)

Job Description

• The role is responsible for providing network design, support and services to both production and maintenance sections.

 Key responsibilities will include:  

• Carrying out functions in components of the network infrastructure inclusive of Routers, Switches. Cabling, Wireless access points and Open Transport Network (OTN) Ring.
• Daily network inspection and fault findings using Network Monitoring Software.
• Ensuring OT network is stable, reliable and optimized.
• Continuous research and development to improve the stability of the network system to ensure minimal impact to business.
• Routine Pen Testing to ensure security of network.
• Developing networking strategies that satisfy the production goals of the operation.
• Checking and inspecting OTN network.
• System administration of OTN network devices and fibre network.
• Ensuring all servers are registered and form part of the instrument domain structure.
• Visual inspection on a weekly basis to ensure hardware integrity.
• Fault finding and rectifying problems of hardware and software failures.
• Rectifying any operating system errors and ensure database integrity.
• Updating operating systems, applications and anti-virus running on the systems.
• Ensuring that all software of the underground CCTV system is operating efficiently.
• Researching and developing new technologies to ensure better system integrity, quality and performance.
• Training personnel on using camera software on client workstations and ensure availability of the manuals.
• Administration of all software, network and workstations related to the Underground radio system.
• Ensuring all virtual and physical clients and servers are running optimally.
• Ensuring all ICS servers and clients comply to Siemens Software Standards.
• Ensuring Radio-Over-IP (ROIP) network delays are minimal.
• Weekly check of hardware and software and reporting any errors to Supervisors and remedy the system.
• Troubleshooting application problems, compatibility and configuration.
• Adherence to SHEQ standards and procedures
