Overview

• Our client is looking for an experienced Packaging Specialist to join its sales team.
• This is a hands-on industrial B2B sales role focused on winning new business and growing existing customer accounts. You will work directly with manufacturers, warehouses, logistics companies and distribution centres, helping them reduce the amount of stretch film they use and, more importantly, reduce their overall cost per pallet.
• The role involves getting out into the field, finding new customers, speaking to decision-makers and conducting on-site trials to demonstrate the difference the product can make. This makes the role consultative technical sales, not commodity selling.
• While the role includes managing and growing existing accounts, it has a strong new-business-development focus and is not suited to someone looking for a predominantly account-management role. You need to be comfortable opening doors, dealing with rejection and following opportunities through to a sale.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• Sales Qualification is advantageous 
• 3–10 years' experience in industrial B2B sales
• Proven track record of winning new business.
• Experience in packaging, plastics, industrial consumables, warehousing equipment, logistics packaging, palletising systems or protective packaging would be particularly relevant.
• Comfortable spending a significant amount of time on the road
• Honest, reliable and professional
• Self-driven sales hunter with a strong prospecting mentality
• Comfortable working independently and generating your own opportunities
• Numerically confident and able to communicate cost-saving calculations to customers
• Comfortable working in factory, warehouse and logistics environments

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and approach potential industrial customers
• Generate new business through cold prospecting
• Build relationships with key decision-makers
• Arrange and conduct on-site pallet wrapping trials
• Demonstrate how the product can reduce plastic usage and cost per pallet
• Calculate and communicate potential customer savings
• Convert successful trials into long-term supply contracts
• Manage and grow existing customer accounts
• Develop long-term relationships with customers
• Train customer staff on effective wrapping techniques
• Manage ongoing customer supply requirements
• Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline
• Travel throughout Gauteng and surrounding provinces, with occasional travel elsewhere in South Africa
• Attend multi-day trials where required, including occasional overnight stays
