Packhouse Capacity Planner at Talent Network

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the Packhouse Capacity Planner position is to assist the Packhouse Capacity Manager in translating the market/sales demand into both short -term and long-term packing production plans and to assist with driving improvements in packhouse capacities, efficiencies, overall quality of functionality and their service levels.

Key performance areas:

Capacity planning:

• Lay out packing instructions per packhouse from the Packhouse Allocations sheet & send to the respective packhouses.
• Update Packing instructions continuously and send out revisions daily.
• Daily follow-up with packhouses on fruit deliveries to stagers to ensure fruit is available for onwards delivery to distribution centres.
• Check information on the fruit export system daily.

Packhouse communication:

Compile the following reports on a weekly basis and submit to the Packhouse Capacity Manager:

• Strike rate per Packhouse with the relevant comments on the quality of the fruit
• Forecast vs Actual volume per grower and per packhouse
• Grower/Customer exposure per week
• Strike rate per Retailer
• Total Deliveries to Stager
• Waste report
• Re-tipping summary
• Compile all the above-mentioned reports cumulatively on a monthly basis to see the effect for the month and submit to the Packhouse Capacity Manager.

Capacity coordination

• Verify Batch intake against Delivery Note on the exporting system
• Download orders from the suppliers’ portal and load it onto our Export system
• Download the good received notes from the Customers’ Portal and load it onto our export system.
• Compare consignments to intakes on systems
• Daily prep and preliminary check on stock at Stager vs Retailer orders vs incoming fruit
• Check that all batches have been inspected and Quality Control reports been sent out and escalate the batches to the Packhouse Capacity Manager if it has not been inspected.
• Weekly Delivery Summary to Stager – what to expect, when, from whom
• Weekly Stock recon sign-off from Stager Stock controller & submit to Packhouse Capacity Manager
• Month end Stock recon sign-off from Stager Stock controller & submit to Packhouse Capacity Manager.

Candidate requirements:

Formal qualification:

• Logistics or equivalent tertiary diploma/certificate

Job-related experience:

• Capacity planning experience (3-5 years)
• FMCG experience (3 -5 years)
• Driver’s license and own transport

• Fruit industry knowledge (3-5 years)
• Packhouse systems knowledge (3 -5 years)
