    Payroll Team Leader

    Introduction

    • Job Purpose: Assume responsibility for the Group payroll including all associated activities to deliver a value adding, cost effective and customer-focused payroll service to the business, that fosters a culture of continuous improvement within defined service level agreements.

    Job description

    Job Objectives:

    • To manage the execution of payrolls, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately, and that payslips, statutory returns and reports are produced and validated in a timely manner in line with payroll procedures, company policies and legislative requirements.
    • To ensure effective people management and development by providing the necessary training/development for the team, including developing a structured induction for new joiners and instil a culture of knowledge sharing.
    • To utilise relevant payroll reporting tools to ensure appropriate workload allocation, maximize efficiency of processes and accuracy of data, and develop and review relevant Payroll KPI’s.
    • To conduct trend analysis and provide business support through effective monthly reporting.
    • The validation and reconciliation of post-payroll output.
    • To ensure that employee records are safe, secure, accurate and updated.
    • Liaise with internal and external Auditors, assisting as necessary and providing any required information.
    • To ensure alignment with stakeholders to work effectively and ensure continuous improvement and excellent customer service.

    Minimum requirements

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • 3-5 Years payroll supervisory experience - essential
    • Experience working in a large complex payroll department
    • Experience in SAP HCM system
    • Experience working in cross-functional teams, especially in an environment which includes extensive co-operation with human resources departments
    • Excellent MS skills - Excel advanced required 

    Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of tax, UIF and all relevant remuneration regulations
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act
    • Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of Business (structures, lines of authority)
    • Thorough knowledge of SAP Payroll System
    • In depth knowledge of all payroll related taxes (PAYE, SITE, and VAT) and legislation
