Post basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification that allows registration with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic). Current registration with SAPC is a requirement. No experience after registration with SAPC as Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic). Computer literacy will be an added advantage. Basic communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical processes, knowledge of relevant legislations and policies, recordkeeping and basic knowledge of drug supply management. Work effectively as part of the team. High level of personal integrity, passion, and commitment to the profession.
Duties :
The incumbent will work under direct/ indirect supervision of the Pharmacist. Dispensing medication to in- and outpatient departments. Issuing medication to wards and stock management in the wards.
Assist with stock taking in the pharmacy store. Picking, labelling of prescriptions and counselling of patients under supervision of a pharmacist.
Assist with the re-packaging of medicine, according to standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist.
Assist with ordering, receiving and distribution of pharmaceuticals to various outlets. Assist in implementation of SOP’s, good pharmacy practice, norms and standards. Assist in general housekeeping and administration tasks in the pharmacy as specified by the responsible pharmacist or supervising pharmacist.
Must adhere to scope of practice of a post basic pharmacist assistant. Be involved in Ideal Hospital Monitoring Framework tool utilised for self-assessment and inspections in relation to quality of care.
