Summary
- The incumbent will assist the pharmacist in dispensing and to perform pharmacy related administrative duties
Requirements
- Qualified as Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
- Registered as a post basic pharmacist assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council
- Computer Literacy essential
- Related house-keeping tasks
- Supply of surgical ward stock
- Assist in the control of stock kept in wards
- Assist in cyclical counts and full stock take process
- Assist in ethical and surgical stock ordering
- All duties assigned by management from time to time
- Provision of drug information service under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Supply of ethical ward stock under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Keep up to date with evolving policies and procedures and abide by them at all times
Work Experience
- Two years’ experience in a similar position in a pharmacy
- Working experience in private healthcare will be advantageous
Knowledge
- Knowledge of dispensing systems and ordering systems
- Aseptic compounding of mixtures according to GPP under supervision of the pharmacist
- The dispensing of a prescription to in and out patients following the interpretation and evaluation of the prescription by a pharmacist
