    Planning Co-ordinator

    The Planning Coordinator oversees the operational delivery of the Engineering planned maintenance team and is accountable for coordinating, coaching and guiding the team toward effective, pro-active and optimised planned maintenance delivery.  The incumbent is further accountable for ensuring appropriate application of and adherence to operational procedures, standards and practice to enable the mine’s Asset Management philosophy and objectives

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification
    • Recognised mechanical or electrical discipline Trade Test Certificate 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ Engineering Planned Maintenance experience in a trackless mining environment
    • Advanced proficiency in using Planned Maintenance systems such as SAP ERP systems, etc. and, a demonstrated track record in Planned Maintenance data management, data integrity, reporting, etc.
    • Proficient in the application of Root Cause Analysis, Reliability Centred Maintenance & Failure Modes Effect and critical analysis
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Demonstrated operational safety track record at section supervisor level
    • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and collaboration capability
    • Established people team leader with proven record of high personal achievement and team delivery
    • Proven capability to work autonomously and apply own initiative in solving problems
    • Sound appreciation for operational value chains and the associated inter-dependencies between operational teams
    • Advanced computer literacy (Planned Maintenance Systems, MS Office suite, emphasis on Excel)
    • Intermediate understanding of financial and budgeting systems and cycles

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the team and participate in all operational Safety, Health and Environmental campaigns
    • Adhere to and maintain continuous alignment of applicable SHE and risk management policies and practices
    • Participate in and lead team resourcing, capability and development initiatives and, ensure optimal team performance and delivery to standards
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with all operational stakeholders, engage in problem solving initiatives and resolve or escalate queries as required
    • Lead the daily team capacity planning covering both preventative and corrective maintenance
    • Ensure efficient utilisation of resources to fulfil maintenance strategy requirements
    • Schedule and monitor team attendance of weekly planning meetings with engineering and production to sign off maintenance schedule
    • Ensure that all work orders are correctly and accurately completed, issued, returned and processed
    • Inspect and verify the completeness and accuracy of codification and bills of materials
    • Oversee and monitor team delivery and effect required interventions to improve and enhance data integrity
    • Schedule and verify the execution of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) exercises for all new equipment before commissioning
    • Develop critical Spare Parts Lists using structured RCM methodologies
    • Ensure the application of RCM based task lists for planned maintenance on significant equipment
    • Participate in and conduct failure analysis and identify significant recurring failure patterns by analysing plant and equipment maintenance history
    • Provide support for and lead Asset Management/Planned Maintenance improvement initiatives as delegated
    • Support the maintenance management strategy by addressing all key elements of asset care strategy KPIs
    • Ensures that preventative actions are implemented to ensure cost effective maintenance programmes and submit formalised recommendations to address
    • Ensure that team maintains complete and correctly catalogued technical manuals and documents up to date
    • Monitor and track assigned sectional or departmental operational Budget
