Plant Engineer - PSZA Nigel at Bayer

Role purpose

•  The Plant Engineer is responsible for the technical availability of assigned assets as well as for maintenance/reliability activities.
•  He or She ensures regulatory compliance regarding inspection and obligations in his area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities and tasks

•  Is responsible for implementing the maintenance strategy and availability policy on the site to ensure the operability, reliability, and integrity of the assigned assets and oversees the maintenance budget.
•  Plans and executes, directs, and supervises the technical activities and functions in the plant in order to meet the objectives as agreed with the site technical manager; assists the production manager in evaluating and achieving plant performance goals related to capacity, operability/availability, economy, integrity, quality, health, safety, and environment
•  Implementation of standard procedures, processes, systems, tools and KPIs to drive continues improvement for Asset Utilization in all facilities on site.
•  Takes responsibility for an effective plant technical team, empowers its members, and fosters their cooperation.
•  Has functional responsibility for people development in the site's reliability/maintenance community and identify and provide resource needs and skill sets required in achieving availability targets and goals.
•  Identifies, evaluates, and implements knowledge and good practice transfer between the Maintenance Technicians
•  Take responsibility for troubleshooting and analytical problem solving of critical/repetitive problems of assets and processes by doing Root Cause Analysis. (Identifies and evaluates deficiencies and bottlenecks and develops technical concepts for their resolution)
•  Manages the maintenance activities related to inspection and repairs of the assigned assets through initiating, monitoring, and tracking of work orders
•  Ensures that all maintenance activities are being completed within the scheduled time
•  Ensures that maintenance materials and spare parts are properly inventoried and available
•  Prioritizes and coordinates maintenance activities between maintenance and production team
•  Prepares/Adapts maintenance plans on CMMS and assists production and technical team to establish/improve preventive maintenance plans and follow-up.
•  Operates the SAP (DMS) system to ensure that work orders are processed and completed as scheduled
•  Take responsibility for creating and maintaining plant technical documentation. Keeps and updates the technical documentation and records
•  Optimization of equipment/process steps and unit operations related to production, utilities and logistics with regard to safety, environmental, economical, quality and regulatory aspects
•  Have up-to-date knowledge about relevant internal regulations, legislation, SOP’s and Technical Good Practices and communicates to maintenance team to assure compliance in the field of asset reliability/maintenance/HAZOP’s etc.
•  Ensure that ‘Permit to Work’ and other relevant procedures (lock out system) are being followed.
•  Coordinates and manage the internal and external service providers.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

•  Degree/Technical Diploma in a Technical discipline, GCC factories (Technician, BSc, MSc or advanced) 5-10 years combined experience in engineering and/or manufacturing
•  Knowledge in technical good practices and standards
•  Proven track record of working in project and/or maintenance roles (including turn-around) within the chemical industry
•  MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
•  Knowledge of CMMS
•  Strong technical and economical competencies
•  Good communication and project management skills
•  Good leadership skills, able to steer a team
•  Good knowledge of engineer tools and skills in technical software
•  Good understanding of supporting processes associated with operations & maintenance of a plant
•  Local language as well as very good English skills
