Plant Operator at Bidvest Tank Terminals

Minimum Requirements

• Matric with Mathematics and Science
• 2 – 3 years’ experience in chemical plant operations
• 2 years warehousing/tank farm experience
• Chemical Operations/related post-matric qualification advantageous.

Job Specification:

• Connecting and disconnecting of loading arms or flexible hoses for safe operations.
• Monitor and operate plant equipment efficiently
• Pre and post inspection of road and rail tankers as per check list
• Preparation and monitoring of all required vessel discharge/ offloading activities according to the safe operating procedures.
• Maintain tank lockout and line up processes to ensure preservation of product
• Dipping of product tanks daily and monitoring of stock levels.
• Daily monitoring of fuel additive and vapour recovery systems to ensure optimal operation.
• Daily monitoring of fuel levels for Diesel engine and required inspections.
• Safe-making relevant equipment for maintenance or project work.
• Operating hand tools for conducting operations activities where necessary
• Complete all daily plant inspections/ logbooks/check lists and report all deviations to superior.
• Complete all daily and weekly safety check lists and report all deviations to your superior.
• Participate in emergency response/firefighting activities in all plants.
• Conduct weekly deluge testing in all plants as per procedure.
• Maintaining slops and waste management according to slopping and waste management procedures
• Maintain good housekeeping standard in all plants
• Comply with all written safe work procedures
• Carry out standby duties when required.
