Platform Engineer/Lead Dev Ops Engineer at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

Overview

• We are seeking a skilled and proactive DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our team as part of a strategic transformation initiative. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity offering the chance to play a pivotal role in modernizing our infrastructure and technology landscape.
• As we roll out a major systems and infrastructure change program, you will support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of new technologies, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure stability, scalability, and continuity.

What You will Do

• Support the rollout of new infrastructure, systems, and security technologies.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Work with APIs, TLS certificates, DNS, and load balancers to ensure seamless networking and security.
• Collaborate with the IS Ops Manager to enhance operational stability and business continuity.
• Introduce and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation using modern DevOps practices.
• Act as a technical lead, supporting less experienced staff and ensuring knowledge transfer to the internal team.
• Ensure compliance with best practices and internal security protocols.

What Were Looking For

• 5+ years experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure role.
• Strong Linux systems administration background.
• Solid understanding of networking (DNS, TLS, Load Balancing, Firewalls).
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Collaborative team player with strong documentation and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Kubernetes or container orchestration
• Experience in highly regulated environments (finance, insurance, etc.)
• Knowledge of legacy-to-modern migration strategies
