    Policy and Regulatory Affairs

    About Policy and Regulatory Affairs (PRA)
    PRA is responsible for providing strategic support to the organisation relating the regulatory and health policy matters. This involves engagement with various stakeholders as well as research and input on various regulatory and policy proposals.

    Key Purpose

    • Monitoring
      • Monitor local and international relevant developments in health policy and regulatory space
      • Provide regular updates of developments with associated implications for the business.
      • Identify meetings/events/presentations that are relevant to health policy and regulatory developments
      • Attend and prepare summary notes of public meetings and events as required.
    • Research
      • Conduct research to inform submissions on policy and regulatory matters as required.
      • Support a primary research programme by developing appropriate research topics directed at a key stakeholder audience.
      • Compile and provide input on submissions on regulatory and policy developments as required.
    • Communication
      • Compile a monthly regulatory update for internal and external stakeholders.
      • Prepare and provide input on summary reports on health policy and regulatory matters as required.
      • Engage appropriately with key stakeholders to provide updates and constructive inputs as well as manage positive relationships.

    Personal Attributes and Skills

    • Health policy background
    • Strong writing skills
    • Demonstrated research experience
    • Good presentation skills
    • Self-management capabilities
    • Some analytic skills preferred, comfortable working with the numbers/ projections
    • Ability to apply strategic view on regulatory and policy risks
    • Demonstrated ability to interact appropriately with multiple stakeholders

    Education and Experience

    • Must include postgraduate level (preferably with research component)

    Can be either:

    • Medical
    • Actuarial
    • Legal
    • Health policy qualification preferred
    • 5 years industry experience required
    • Medical scheme exposure required
