Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (Applications of Data Science) at Mangosuthu University of Technology

Key Performance Areas:

• Interact with collaborators to design experiments and develop process designs.
• Draft grant applications in this broad research area.
• Publish manuscripts in reputable journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings in this field.
• Develop a methodology framework for social media analysis.
• Ability to co-supervise relevant postgraduate research and/or collaborate with other postdoctoral fellows.
• Involvement in initiating and managing research projects.
• Assisting in overall management and contributing to the various activities of the Research projects.
• Initiating, developing and/or being involved in research networks, collaborations (i.e. formulating spin-offs, and joint ventures), institutional partnerships, and the  organization of research events.

Minimum Requirements:

• PhD specializing in Computer Science or Information Technology or related. At the time of the award, the candidate should have graduated with his/her doctorate degree no longer than within the previous five years.
• South African citizens and permanent residents will have priority.
• International Postdoctoral Research Fellows must have a long-term visitor’s visa endorsed for academic activities affiliated with MUT (Section 11(1)(b) Visitors Visa)
• A solid knowledge data science and machine learning.
• At least 3 published journal papers in the last 24 months.
• Working knowledge and experience with programming languages such as Python, Matlab and Knime.
• Established track record of publications and conference contributions related to the outlined research areas.
