PowerBI Developer at BroadReach

Key Accountabilities (included but not limited to)

• Analyses, designs, modifies and develops PowerBI visualisations and components
• Developing compelling visual reports, dashboards and scorecards using Power BI desktop, using efficient and scalable techniques.
• Ensure the PowerBI environment is optimally configured by performing regular administration
• Defining, documenting and building data models that meet the user objectives.
• Clearly specify data tables and models for the database team to develop, for use in visualisations.
• Connecting to data sources, importing data and transforming data for use in Business Intelligence systems
• Ensuring accuracy and quality of data and front-ends by performing extensive back-end and front-end testing
• Ensuring Usability, including non-functional performance, of visualisations and conformance to design standards
• Ensuring that proper Dev Ops practices are implemented in order to de-risk the organisation
• Writing and compiling clear system documentation
• Undertaking independent Problem Solving - ability to Debug your own and others’ Code and configuration
• Effective transfer of skills and knowledge to other Team members and stakeholders
• Introduce innovative software engineering and development practices in the field of Power BI development
• Stay abreast of new industry software technologies practices in the field of Power BI and Business Intelligence development

  Qualifications

• Relevant Degree, Diploma or Qualification in (Computer Science / Information Systems) or Microsoft Accreditation e.g. MCTS, MCSD, PowerBI 

Experience & skills

• 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in database development in an Agile, fast paced, product-oriented environment, delivering world-class Business Intelligence systems

Technical Knowledge and Skill Required

• Proficient in programming DAX queries in Power BI desktop.
• Expertise in using advanced level calculations and transformations on the data set.
• Responsible for design methodology and project documentation.
• Able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards.
• Adept in developing, publishing and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
• Able to properly understand the business requirements and develop data models accordingly.
• Should have knowledge and experience in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis.
• Write MS SQL Queries for use in PowerBI
• Perform optimization of MS SQL Queries for use in PowerBI
• Familiarity with Agile engineering practices
• Strong mathematical / statistical aptitude / related experience
• Advanced EXCEL skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using software development best practices
• Ability to integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Data mapping experience
• Professional proficiency in written and oral communication skills in English
• Preferred but not mandatory: Should have knowledge and skills for secondary tools such as Microsoft Azure, SQL data warehouse, PolyBase, Visual Studio, 
• Preferred but not mandatory: Able to integrate Power BI reports into other applications using embedded analytics like Power BI service (SaaS), or by API automation. Also, one must be experienced in developing custom visuals for Power BI.
