    Prinicipal Mining Consultant

    Purpose of the Job:

    An opportunity exists for an experienced Mining professional who will be responsible for the growth of the MSA Mining Consulting Offering through the development of an improved and expanded offering, new business development, the attraction of other consultants/associates and the transfer of knowledge and skills and the on-going management of studies.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications: Graduate Mining Engineering Qualification. Post Graduate qualification would be an advantage.

    Experience: Minimum 10 years Mining experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Strategic input into the Mining Consulting offering.
    • Integrate Mining Consulting projects with other consulting projects.
    • Account Management for assigned Mining Consulting projects at MSA.
    • Study Project Management – DD’s, scoping, feasibility, valuations, PEA’s, conceptual studies, and risk assessments
    • Strong subcontractor management – commercial and project output deliverables
    • Advising clients on how to best take their projects forward to a commercial outcome
    • Techno-economic assessments of projects, work closely with a resource consultant 

    Skills:

    • Ensure one has an intimate working knowledge of the reporting codes
    • Excellent technical knowledge and skills and up to date familiarity with technical and other trends within the industry:
    • This includes resource-reserve conversion; familiarity with scheduling software like (NPV Scheduler, Deswick, Datamine)
    • Good understanding of mining methodologies with exposure to both base and precious metals
    • Exposure to both open pit and underground operations
    • Ability to build and interrogate techno-financial models
    • Experience in valuation would be an advantage
    • Good working knowledge of pertinent legislation and practice:
    • Mineral Laws
    • Labour Laws
    • SAMREC and other reporting codes
    • Basic understanding of finance; accounting, cash flow, interest rates, economic cycles, costing, etc.
    • Understanding of administrative practices as they apply to exploration evaluation and mining projects
    • Project management
