We’re on the lookout for an experienced Process Specialist – Chemical to support the Utilities team, utilizing experience and knowledge to run the equipment in a Chemical Recovery circuit at optimum levels. To mentor and guide team members responsible for the production / maintenance functions within the department.
As an Process Specialist – Chemical, you will be responsible for:
Monitor and review critical performance parameters daily, monthly, and annually, ensuring corrective actions where deviations occur.
Maintain accurate historical operating records to track long-term performance and identify potential risks.
Identify and recommend capital investment requirements to improve production efficiency and sustainability.
Conduct daily inspections of operating units to ensure optimal functionality and drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Lead and facilitate problem-solving initiatives, corrective actions, and team-based root cause analysis.
Develop and implement Best Operating Practices for chemical plant operations.
Train, mentor, and coach the operating team to build capability and ensure long-term sustainability.
Stay current with international standards and technology trends, evaluating plant upgrade opportunities.
Provide engineered solutions to process and operational challenges.
Manage people and step in as Acting Production Manager when required.
What are we looking for:
BSc in Chemical Engineering, BTech in Pulp & Paper, or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Chemical plant Operations.
At least 7 years’ experience as a Chemical Shift Superintendent will be strong advantageous.
