    Planner: Maintenance

    Job Description

    • Arrange travel bookings and manage financial claims. Track documents requiring signature and ensure timely return to requestors. Maintain management briefs index and files, EFT payments, SAP - T&A & ordering
    • Supervise upkeep of the Management Building to a high standard, cleaning staff, canteen, and gardens - report any problems

    Communications Practitioner

    Description

    Junior Maintenance Planner

    Description

    As a Junior Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for:

    • Act as SAP Custodian in the plant including monitoring the status for the last 24 hours of notifications and that they have the correct functional location, works order, breakdown duration and OEE adherence.
    • Drive the weekly planning process ensuring compliance; print, issue and release work orders; compile and distribute the weekly plan compliance report; prepare chair the weekly planning meeting
    • Confirm work orders in SAP and highlight any actions resulting from works order completion
    • Create follow on orders for rotable and repairable items and follow up on orders. Dismantle and install rotable equipment in SAP and verify data accuracy in SAP
    • Pro-actively monitor the Shut progress for the applicable area, including limited scoping and shut status, works orders reports, co-ordinating Shut meetings and collating and distributing Shut reports
    • Manage work related to incidental shuts, including limited scoping, issuing spares, PRs and planning resources
    • Assist Foreman/Superintendent with SAP PM management for the MDT
    • Stand in for Planner in MDTs when required
    • Update the Incidental shut list and distribute weekly and ensure work is scoped and all resources planned on the works order.
    • Be available for standby or overtime duties when required

    Maintenance Superintendent: Turner/Machinist

    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Maintenance Superintendent: Turner/Machinist to perform frontline management of the mechanical workshop (turning section) and machining activities, ensuring the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of high-quality mechanical components that support reliable plant operation. The role provides technical leadership to the Turning/Machining and Fitting teams and ensures that workshop equipment is fully utilized, and that operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with mill standards and engineering best practices.

    As a Maintenance Superintendent: Turner/Machinist, you will be responsible for:

    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all machining and turning work within the mechanical workshop
    • Assess equipment, materials, and labour required to complete machining, fabrication, and repair tasks
    • Ensure that machining and mechanical maintenance activities meet set quality and safety standards while minimizing downtime and waste
    • Allocate and prioritize work orders to turners and machinists to ensure timely delivery of components to production areas
    • Collaborate with Maintenance Engineers, Production, and Planning teams to ensure machining jobs align with operational priorities
    • Maintain workshop machinery (lathes, milling machines, drilling, and grinding equipment) to ensure reliability and precision
    • Oversee the manufacture and repair of rotating components (shafts, sleeves, bushes, couplings, etc.) within tolerance specifications
    • Coordinate external machining and contractor work to ensure compliance with Sappi’s quality and safety standards
    • Prepare and maintain accurate job documentation, drawings, and inspection reports in accordance with mill and legal requirements
    • Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical input for modifications and engineering improvement projects
    • Work overtime, standby, and act in a higher position when required
    • Manages a portion of the Workshop Fitting/Turning Team
    • Stands in for the Fitting Superintendent, when required to
    • Supervise and develop turners, machinists, and apprentices to build technical competence and ensure effective team performance
    • Manage workforce planning, performance management, and training interventions to maintain adequate skill levels
    • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to promote multi-skilling and continuous improvement
    • Evaluate individual and team performance against goals, ensuring accountability and alignment with departmental standards

    • Understand and enforce SHEQ requirements within the workshop and ensure full compliance with statutory and company ISO standards

    Mechanician: Instruments

    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Instruments Mechanician who will ensure optimum plant availability by efficient maintenance of all instrumentation systems and equipment according to engineering safety
    • As an Instruments Mechanician, you will be responsible for:
    • Installs, commissions, modifies and maintains instrument
    • installations and DCS equipment by the application of engineering expertise and skills in order to satisfy Engineering and Production standards and requirements.
    • Optimises by loop tuning, investigates and fault-finds process controls systems (DCS) by the application of engineering skills, process plant and process control knowledge so as to maintain performance requirements of such systems.
    • Removes defective instruments from system, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
    • Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using hand tools.
    • Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
    • Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
    • Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    • Accurately capturing and closing out daily maintenance activities using SAP, ensuring all work is properly documented in line with company procedures and compliance requirements.
    • Required to work standby and overtime as required.
    • Understands the SHEQ requirements of the Section.
    • Monitor subordinate’s performance against SHEQ requirements
    • and corrects non-conformances.
    • Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non Conformances and corrects deviations.
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time.

    What are we looking for?

    • Full N3
    • Instrument Trade Test Certificate.
    • Minimum (3) years’ plant operations experience .
    • Computer Literate (MS Office Package)
    • SAP knowledge will be advantageous.
