Procurement Officer at Tharisa

Purpose of Role

The role is responsible for identifying suppliers and managing the suppliers. Purchasing materials, equipment, repairs, services, and project equipment within the preferential and purchasing procedures. Establish and administer supply and service agreements.

Role Context

• Effective interaction between the suppliers and customers
• Ensure good customer service to the production unit and behave accordingly
• Ensure that materials comply with the production specifications
• Ensure efficient commercial control and adherence to policies and procedures, as well as the mines health and safety act
• Buying of all contract items
• Buying of all items on stock not covered by long term contracts
• Ensure confidentiality and integrity
• Applies correct procedures for preferential, contract and non-contract purchasing
• Handle all new vendor applications and ensure sound system integrity of vendors
• Handle all new contracts and administer the contracts
• Ensure contract price list are updated in the system
• Cost savings initiatives through sound purchasing principles
• Ensures accurate purchasing and vendor data input into the X3 system
• Contract Administration
• Contract Initiation
• Placement of Orders
• Completion of repair items documentation
• Vendor Management
• Obtain Quotations
• Tender and adjudication processes.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12/ NQF Level 4,
• Certificate in Purchasing

Job specific experience:

• 3 years relevant experience, preferably in smelter industry.
• Valid driver’s license code 8,
• Computer Literate.
