Procurement Operations Manager - Apples and Pears at Mayfly Agri (Pty) Ltd

• An international cold chain and fruit exporting group is seeking a Procurement Operations Manager responsible for end-to-end fruit procurement and export operations, including sourcing apples and pears, managing farmer relationships, overseeing packhouse operations, and coordinating international shipping and logistics.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a tertiary qualification in Agriculture
• Must have previous growing experience with Apples and Pears
• Previous procurement experience would be preferred
• Solid understanding of Citrus quality, packing and logistics is required
• Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel when required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Identifying, contracting with, and supervising local farmers to source high-quality fruit.
• Monitoring and evaluating the quality of produce to meet company standards.
• Identifying suitable packhouses for packing and storing sourced fruit.
• Engaging with packhouse management to ensure compliance with packaging standards and timelines.
• Overseeing the packing process to ensure fruit is packed correctly and efficiently without wastage.
• Ensuring the shipping of packed fruit to India and other overseas markets at the most competitive rates.
• Working with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
• Overseeing and managing export documentation and ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations.
