    About the Role

    The Product Engineer Associate is a new role within Rubicon and is intended to support the Chief Product Officer in meeting the organisational goals for product management and development.

    This role is envisaged to have a wide scope that requires continual context-switching. In this role, a typical day could go from a meeting focused on high-level strategic planning to detailed engagement with members of the product development team on granular issues, followed by a sales team support call with a key client.

    Envisaged Key Focus Areas:

    • Product discovery: identifying users requirements to strategically procure or develop products with features that are valuable, usable, and feasible. 

    • Prioritize what Products to Develop and which to purchase based on a clear understanding of user needs and the organization’s objectives. 

    • Build support & buy-in for new product with senior management and staff: the fate of the product is in the hands of this role, decisions taken impact not only the delivery team but everyone in the company, as the company’s success relies on our products' success. It will be the function of this role to ensure that everyone across the organization is invested in new products by internally promoting and championing them through training and other internal communications.

    • Deliver Product - Delivery is focused on designing, building and releasing new products and features that are valuable, usable, viable, and feasible.  

    • Support the team - A key element of the role is to ensure the entire team feels supported and empowered to do their best work.  As there are many contributors to release a new product/feature, it is a requirement to jump in to help where possible.  

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Required: Engineering Degree or similar

    • Electrical qualification; and/or

    • Electronics qualification; and/or

    • Another relevant diploma (e.g., renewable energy)

    • Software / firmware Development learning exposure 

    Experience +3yrs in:

    • Previous Technical Support roles; and/or

    • Product Testing & Development; and/or

    • Project &/or Product Management 

    Availability & Ability to travel occasionally - locally and possibly internationally. 

    The ability to traverse various workspaces easily

    PERSONAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Computer literacy – highly Computer literate and comfortable with basic technical aspects of common operating systems with Microsoft Office general excellence

    • Competent Professional business written and verbal communications skills.  The ability to express yourself clearly and effectively within the company.

    • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.  

    • Attention to detail while maintaining the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture

    • An ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests

    • A creative outlook with a problem-solving attitude.

    • Self-motivated - Meet and exceed all that is required of you in your job
