Product Manager: Point of Sale Devices at Absa Group Limited (Absa)

To develop tactical strategy and delivery plans, formulate associated practice/s and to ensure operational implementation and adoption i.t.o. product development methodology and delivery objectives.

Job Description

Commercial management: Accountable for managing the commercial performance (P&L) of the product across the product lifecycle in support of the business's high-level financial ambitions and Balance Sheet shape; | Product Management: Delivers a compelling and insights led Product Proposition offering that aligns to and enables the business and customer strategies: | Product Infrastructure: Accountable for the entire end-to-end infrastructure (People, Process and Technology) on which the product runs to support the target customer experience whilst ensuring that the product remains commercially viable by ensuring:

Product Management:

•  Responsible for all new device certifications and testing for existing merchants to ensure adherence to scheme requirements.

•  Manage certification programs for existing merchants that wish to migrate to newer devices are managed through the process ensuring seamless transaction processing and business continuity.

• In line with the  new device strategy, ensure that the latest technology is available to our merchants through selected device Vendors

• Manage the process of certifying all new devices that will come into the Absa environment with all the relevant PSO’s

• Facilitate the implementation of IPSEC links and all associated communication to ensure successful end-to-end processing of third party transactions.

• Manage all regulatory and approval processes for any new initiatives such as Cloud committee approvals

• Manage the device on boarding of all new Independent Service Operators, and Aggregators.

• Ensure cost  effectiveness and accuracy  where applicable 

Device Management:

• Implement and deliver on the product strategy through clearly defined product plans and up to date delivery roadmaps. 

• Manage and lead projects that related device lifecycle for all Absa Estate.

• Manage Product Collateral & and design Training Material together with suppliers for the bank’s devices.

• Proactively manage all technical device issues for our customers to ensure seamless customer experience.

• Proactively engage Suppliers on new solution / Product requirements to ensure that the bank is has latest and greatest products offering in the market.

• Ensure that all Absa estate / devices at merchants are compliant with PCI requirements and retired before end dates.

• Manage all integrated device value chain, including Switches by keeping them updated with all required changes as per regulatory requirements

Device Management:

• Apply the highest standards of controls and risk management practices and behaviors, embed a positive risk, and control culture. Demonstrate prudence, sound judgement and appropriate and timely escalations in the management of all types of risk applicable to my role.

• Understand your role in the business end to end processes, including applicable risks and controls and how this improves the service, we provide to our customers.

• Adhere to Absa frameworks, policies and procedures applicable to the role, demonstrating sound judgement and responsible risk management, and when required highlight breaches and request dispensations & waivers on a timely basis.

• Report all risk events/incidents/issues immediately upon discovery and escalate significant events/incidents/issues using the defined process for your business area.

• Help to understand why risk events/incidents/issues happened and identify how to prevent them in future - focusing on fixing root causes and taking ownership of identified actions.

• Proactively identify ways to improve the control environment by considering what could go wrong in the processes I operate and how errors could be prevented - focusing on fixing root causes and taking ownership of identified actions.

• Ensure that you have access to the ORMS system

• Load all risk events related to your product on the ORMS system

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
