  • Product Manager

    Job Objectives    
    1. Product Management:

    • Drives business requirements and product feature definition for each product portfolio to ensure a seamless end-to-end digital customer experience.
    • Defines and assigns features to specific releases to meet key business objectives and serving customer expectations.
    • Sets product prioritisation and ensures appropriate delivery through a cross-functional team.
    • Active team member in business and IT teams to drive business objectives through product-market fit.
    • Serves as key integration point with IT development, business process, architecture and business leadership.
    • Provides product vision and direction for digital experiences that drive consumer engagement, reinforces the brand, and ultimately grows and improves the omnichannel experience.
    • Establishes and monitors customer satisfaction and other KPIs to define the success of our digital experiences; identifies and lead efforts to analyze results and continuously improve our performance through product improvements.
    • Continuously improve product engagement through active customer development and testing.
    • Understand changing consumer trends to apply strategies and product roadmaps that deliver added value.
    • Generates new product ideas, researching and analyzing for feasibility and business impact.
    • Create robust product roadmaps aligned to omnichannel business strategy and objectives.

    2. Customer experience:

    • Ensure a consistent and delightful customer experience across all digital touchpoints of the Shoprite customer journey.
    • Drive mobile digital engagement through eCommerce channels based on customer preference and omnichannel strategies.
    • Drive digital engagement across channels, aligned with customer preference and omnichannel strategies.
    • Provides strategic input to customer experience improvements that help drive customer acquisition, customer retention, and conversion.
    • Creates insights to guide our strategy and product roadmap through understanding customer’s needs and behaviors, competition and emerging technologies.

    3. Marketing:

    • Support integrated Omnichannel marketing through dynamic and customer-lovable products (including mobile features and offers).
    • Actively promote and advocate product features and customer-first product design.

    4. Operations:

    • Drive exceptional customer services across omnichannel digital products.
    • Adhere to and improve customer service levels across businesses and services.
    • Provide integrated reporting and feedback across Shoprite.

    5. People and finance:

    • Drive customer centric culture, processes and way of working.
    • Plan, evaluate and manage budget for Product on a monthly and yearly basis.

    Qualifications    
    Essential:

    • Bachelor degree/ three year diploma or equivalent experience in commerce, engineering or marketing

    Desirable:

    • Master’s Degree or additional qualification in marketing, business administration, information technology

    Experience    
    Essential:

    • Experience and proven success in translating business strategy and analysis into successful consumer products (3-5 years)
    • Prior experience as a product manager working on digital consumer-facing applications; eCommerce and omnichannel experience (2-3 years)
    • Proven track record of successfully launching new mobile product features (2-3 years)
    • Certified Scrum or SAFe product owner or product manager.

    Desirable:

    • General Marketing / Retail Experience (2-3 Years)
    • Customer User Experience and Product Management (2-3 Years)
    • Loyalty Experience (1-2 Years)
    • Analytics / Big Data Experience (1-2 Years)
    • Commercial Experience in digital led business development (1-2 Years)

    Knowledge and Skills    
    Essential:

    • Ability to influence and engage at an executive level with respect to customer centric product concepts and best practices
    • Ability to influence diverse teams and get team buy-in on product concepts and objectives
    • Ability to engage with design and development teams
    • Advanced digital product customer development (User Experience design, AB Testing etc.)
    • Strong analytics understanding in digital product management
    • Advanced information technology management
    • Understanding of African digital market and customers
    • Knowledge of legal compliance (Protection Of Personal Information Act, Electronic Information Act, etc.)
