Product Owner at MiX Telematics

About the Role:

MiX Telematics has a vacancy for an Agile Product Owner. The position is based in Stellenbosch and reports to the Lead Product Owner.  You should be able to demonstrate competency across all areas of business analysis, product ownership.

The Product Owner role is a key component in the development lifecycle and is required to review user requirements and create an appropriate, well thought through solutions as well as support projects already in development.

The successful incumbent will:

• Work closely with Product Managers to elicit requirements
• Lead solution requirements analysis, definition, and acceptance in software development lifecycle
• Conduct requirements workshops
• Gather, interpret, and translate customer needs into functional and non-functional requirements and stories – translate business problems into requirements that result in effective software development
• Understand system behavior, inputs, and outputs as they relate to business functions
• Create wireframes of software making use of prototyping tools
• Facilitate regular sessions with stakeholders to ensure the requirements have been met
• Be the interface between the product managers and the development team
• Support the day-to-day needs of the Scrum team in understanding the business requirements
• Ensure the output of development meets the Functional Requirements through the approval of development stories
• Perform Scrum Master Activities for selected development teams

Skills Requirements:

In addition to demonstrable experience in performing the above mentioned activities successfully, the person will have a:

• Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar role (Business Analyst and/or Product Owner)
• Understanding of Scrum principles
• Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented, high pressure environment;
• Highly organized and flexible
• Strong logical and analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word and Power Point
• Ability to explore, analyze and utilize various software platforms from an end user perspective
• Ability to work independently and jointly in unstructured environments in a self-directed way
• Ability to take a leadership role on projects and with stakeholders
• Experienced working closely with team members during development and product release
• Experience with wireframe building/prototyping tools is beneficial e.g. Balsamiq, Omnigraffle
• Preferably an undergraduate degree with an Information Systems focus
• Scrum Master training is advantageous
