    Product Owner

    About the role:

    • In order for Silica to remain true to its purpose of making investments accessible, and in doing so, be more relevant and grow market share, it needs to develop products that add value to clients, and through this grow revenue and relevance. In Silica, product owners are accountable for building great products that will make investments accessible for investors, MANCOs and financial advisors.
    • A product owner must, through understanding market, client and user needs, articulate a clear product vision. The vision should be a document and/or a presentation per product that is communicated and well understood by all key stakeholders within Silica, and amongst clients. This should be available and accessible on Silica’s shared platform. The product vision, per product, should align to Silica’s core purpose: to make investments accessible.
    • The feature set will change as the product is made relevant to cater for market needs. This, like the vision per product, must be communicated and well understood by all key stakeholders within Silica, and amongst clients. This should be available and accessible on Silica’s shared platform

    Performance area:

    Evidence of available and easily accessible artefacts that clearly articulate the vision for and feature set of the product. This should include, but must not be limited to:

    • The core purpose of the product, its intended use, and what problems it helps solve.
    • The intended users.
    • Roadmap to enhance the product offering per release (feature set) – this must be shared with client owners, PMs and clients every 6 months in a professionally presented communique.
    • Comprehensive view of feature set with, with screenshots (Product brochure).
    • Evidence that the product vision, feature set and roadmap has been shared with stakeholders across the board, including clients, Silica Client Owners, Silica Project Managers and Business Analysts and the development team.

    A product owner must have a clear and detailed understanding of:

    •  Resource and other relevant costs on the income statement.
    • Rate card revenue being incurred.
    • Income related to selling new and existing products to new and existing clients. Should be linked to the product feature set and roadmap.
    • In addition, the product owner must ensure that revenue projections set each month on Pulse by project managers for project related work is correct, and the recovery at the end of the month on Pulse is correct.
