    Product Sales Specialist - Roofing

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Macsteel Cape Town is looking for a driven and customer-focused Product Sales Specialist to grow and develop the Roofing product range within the region.
    • This role is ideal for a commercially minded individual with strong roofing industry knowledge, technical product understanding, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving sales growth, increasing market share, and ensuring exceptional customer service across the roofing segment.
    • The role requires a proactive individual who is passionate about sales, confident in engaging with customers and contractors, and capable of identifying new business opportunities in a competitive market.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
    • Relevant Diploma, BTech, Diploma, or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or related field (Essential)
    • Demonstrated technical competency in roofing systems, steel products, or construction applications.
    • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience within the steel, roofing, or construction industry
    • Proven experience engaging with architects, consultants, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
    • Strong knowledge of roofing products including Corrugated, IBR, and related applications is essential.
    • SAP proficiency advantageous.
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Sales & Business Development

    • Achieve monthly sales targets relating to Tons and GP for roofing products.
    • Drive sales growth of Novotexi, IBR, Corrugated, and related roofing products.
    • Identify and secure new customers, projects, and market opportunities.
    • Generate leads through networking, customer engagement, and industry interaction.
    • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify growth opportunities. 
    • Ensure adherence to pricing and margin requirements.

    Customer & Stakeholder Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and developers.
    • Conduct regular customer visits and site engagements.
    • Provide technical advice on roofing products and applications.
    • Resolve customer queries, complaints, and service-related issues professionally and efficiently.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

    Operational & Commercial Coordination

    • Liaise with production, planning, and dispatch teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
    • Ensure accurate order specifications and delivery timelines.
    • Follow up on outstanding orders and customer commitments.
    • Resolve operational issues impacting customer service delivery.
    • Ensure roofing coil stock aligns with business requirements and planning.

    Financial Performance

    • Achieve GP targets and maintain margin discipline.
    • Monitor pricing against market conditions.
    • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
    • Manage roofing stock levels within agreed business ratios.

    Compliance, Safety & Quality

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and SHEQ requirements.
    • Adhere to safe working practices and report risks or non-conformances.
    • Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability
