    Production Lead - Carbide

    Job Description:

    • Assist Carbide Manufacturing Manager on technical production projects in collaboration with other E6 sites e.g. DECAR.
    • Required to perform equipment maintenance including but not limited to large vacuum furnaces.
    • Use a structured, rational data-based approach to implement process control algorithm/methodologies.
    • Continuously update these algorithms with the latest knowledge.
    • Identify root causes for quality failures using a variety of data sources and a structured approach to implement sustainable corrective actions.
    • Drive continuous process improvement through structured problem-solving including maintenance and capital improvement projects.
    • Apply Equipment Specifications as part of the capital improvement projects.
    • Lead/assist with Plant Commissioning where required.
    • Assist Carbide Manufacturing Manager in planning production to maximize efficiencies and throughput with resources on hand.
    • Oversee production quality requirements and maintaining standards.
    • Leading a team to ensure a culture of high performance is achieved.

    Qualifications:

    • Engineering Studies preferably Mechanical/ Chemical /Metallurgy.
    • At least 8 years’ experience in a tungsten carbide manufacturing plant.
    • Supervisory/management experience within the same or similar role.
    • Experience with maintenance of Large Vacuum furnaces.
    • Proven experience and ability in driving Process Confirmations, JDE management and stock control whilst leading an HSE culture from the frontline.
    • Experience in production systems including, such as STaC and WRACs, and safety file management.

    Criteria Skills and Competencies

    • JDE systems knowledge.
    • Excellent computer systems knowledge (All MS Office packages).
    • Problem Solving techniques and the ability to facilitate and employ shop floor PPS sessions.
    • Understanding of technical aspects related to carbide sintering and grinding processes, with ability to analyse and evaluate product quality in line with changes in operational processes.
    • Structured problem solving and execution of solutions.
    • Technical data analysis using a variety of data sources.
    • Good communication, presentation and influencing skills.
    • Ability to independently identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Ability to lead a team and guide production requirements and output target setting.
