Matric, Diploma/Degree in nursing (Basic R171, R174 or R425) qualification or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional/Registered Nurse.
Exposure working in HIV/AIDS and TB programmes, NIMART training (Nurse Initiated Management of ART) or Vertical Mother to child training programme (VTP) will be added advantage. A qualification/certificate in TB, NIMART and VTP from a recognized tertiary institution. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council for 2026.
For Grade 1: 0- 9 years’ experiences. Grade 2: 10- 19 years’ experiences and for Grade 3: 20 years and above years of experiences
COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Good communication, report writing, facilitation, coordination, planning and organizational skills, problem solving and information management skills
Duties :
Implement comprehensive nursing care to all HAST patients, promote adherence, self-care, treatment, and compliance. Supervise the administration of treatment plan on all opportunistic common conditions with the guidelines and standard operating procedures of the programme. Screen all HIV positive patients for TB and other health conditions before they are initiated on ART.
Maintain a therapeutic relationship and environment in which health care can be provided optimally and safely. Supervise the effective implementation of the HAST programme and all the pillars of HIV management. understand the impact of HIV infection within the South African context and study the profile of HAST in the facility. Create and communicate an accurate records management and archiving of all HAST patients retained files.
Implement all HAST guidelines and SOPs. Participate in Health promotion and HIV prevention initiatives including assessments, testing, education to improve and control the spread of HIV in the facility. Constantly supervise other categories of nursing and HIV testers in implementing the HIV programme. Utilize Human, Material and Physical resources effectively and efficiently.
