A Basic R425 qualification i.e. Diploma / Degree in Nursing / R171 / R174 / R683 or equivalent qualification. Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and proof of current registration.
Duties :
Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Perform clinical nursing in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the health facility. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the health facility.
Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians, including report writing when required. Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Able to plan and organise own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirements and expectations (Batho Pele principles).
Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of the nursing care plan (clinical practices / quality patient care). Implement standards, practices, criteria and indicators for quality nursing.
Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders. Ability to utilize human and material resources effectively. Ability to manage and control equipment effectively and assist in procedures involving the use of equipment. Skills: leadership, supervisory, problem solving, decision making, conflict management, and disciplinary skills are essential. Ability to manage complaints for patients and relatives.
Ability to identify risks and patient safety incidents and be able to manage and prevent such. Adherence to the Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework standards.
Maintain professional growth / ethical standards and development of self and subordinates. Adherence to PMDS and CPD requirements. Implementation of infection prevention and control measures. Must be flexible and able to work shifts.
