Professional Nurse Grade 2 (Specialty Nursing) PN-B2 Hast
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse with midwifery. A post-basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with SANC in Clinical Nursing Science, health assessment, treatment and care (PHC).
A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty.
Extensive knowledge of Primary Health Care with focus on HIV, AIDS, STI & TB and the VTP with NIMART certificate is required. In-depth knowledge of global and national HAST policies and guidelines.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities. Ability to function under pressure and within multi-sectoral team. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced computer skills. Valid driver’s license. Registration with SANC for 2026. Knowledge, skills and experience of SANC rules and regulations, Scope of practice, Constitution, Health Acts, labour relations, good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to function well within a team and independently in a mother and child hospital setting.
Duties :
Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within a professional/ legal framework. Clinical management HIV and AIDS, sexually transmitted infections; Public health chronic diseases, rehabilitation and mental health. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards for primary health care.
Co-ordinate and submit monthly report on HIV/AIDS/STI program indicators and HTS Counsellors mentoring. Monitor, assess and evaluate the impact of HAST programs. Manage key stakeholder relations related to the delivery of HAST programmes. Support districts in the achievement of UNAIDS (95-95-95) targets.
Support health programs, including the comprehensive care plan on HIV/AIDS/STI and ARV treatment program. Participate in clinical records audits. Promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including willingness to respond to patients’ needs and expectations according to Batho Pele Principles. Evaluate and monitor performance and appraisal of employees. Ensure capacity and development of staff.
