Professional Nurse Specialty (Advanced Midwifery) Grade 1- 2
Matric certificate, Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree/Diploma) in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and a Midwife, one-year post-basic Diploma in Midwifery and Neonatal(Advanced Midwifery), and proof of current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in general nursing.
Duties :
Execute duties and functions with proficiency within the prescriptions of the applicable legislation. Provide a safe therapeutic environment. Monitor and manage patients during antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum using all available resources for the best outcome of the mother and the neonate. Perform procedures in line with policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
Adopt a multidisciplinary approach to promote holistic patient/client care. Maintain clinical competence by ensuring that scientific principles of nursing care are implemented.
Maintain accurate and complete patient records. Maintain client satisfaction through quality service innovation and professional nursing care by upholding the Batho Pele principles, patients’ rights, and the Values of nursing, including the 6 priorities. Accurate implementation of Maternity guidelines & HAST guidelines to ensure efficient and effective patient health outcomes.
Knowledge of ESMOE. Participate in the implementation of priority programs and strategies to reduce morbidity and mortality. Be able to lead the shift and to take overall management of the unit in the absence of the Operational Manager.
Evaluate staff performance adhering to the set standards of the (PMDS). Motivate, coach, and mentor staff. Management and control of scheduled drugs. Required to work day and night duty. Any other duties as required by the supervisor.
